Gig Harbor Living Sep 2004

A "snug harbor" is an apt description for this lovely seaside town of Gig Harbor. This is one of the more memorable towns in which I have been fortunate to reside during my lifetime. Reminds me a great deal of the Orange County, CA coastal towns as they were in the fifties and early sixties. You know, before the days of fancy coffee houses, buildings over 3 stories high, and nationwide chain stores...... Here we have an actual working fishing village, plus small, independent business owners who advertise that they are local. Many other people own their own boats and go fishing for salmon in the Puget Sound. This effort for a few months appears to bring in sufficient income to support a fisher-person for an entire year...... If you patronize the local businesses, chances are that you will be entertained with a unique rendition of local history as seen by the orator in addition to their superb service at a very reasonable price. All in all, a very good place in which to set up temporary housekeeping while still searching for that "pie in the sky".
